Provision of high-quality medical support is crucial to the success of military operational deployments. The extreme demands of the battlefield require MOD to be able to use advanced skill sets from first responders, evacuation teams, medical technicians and surgeons, and to access systems that can be deployed in austere environments to provide medical treatments, interventions and support to injured personnel.

The purpose of this proof-of-concept research proposals explored new solutions and technologies that can support the military medic of the future by exploring the potential of simulated training environments in military medicine, particularly in areas currently covered by the use of physical models. The study balanced the costs of technology, training, ethical with political imperatives, effectiveness, standards and opportunities to enhance and maintain skill sets.
