Research funded new product research and development

Heath has been funding Applicant, Co-applicant, Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, Design Lead and Researcher delivering numerous, competitively secured, new product development projects. From 2007, when he secured the role of Design Research Assistant on the Future Bathrooms project led by Professor Paul Chamberlain, this has involved working very closely with participants experiencing quality of life challenges and sometimes ‘difficult to talk about’ topics. Participatory and co-design methods have since been fundamental to his design research and design activity, with insights across stakeholder spectrums proving key to understanding and resolving often complex problem sets. To date he has personally managed design and research portfolios with a combined value in excess £4M. The following partial case studies capture various established and emergent methods for the insight elicitation he deploys.
